Elvar was founded to save time and get people home from work earlier.

Elvar is a suite of products destined to become a governance-first company operating system, where agents can be trusted to take on the work that machines can carry and free up humans for life’s less dull moments.

Elvar in brief

Elvar is a governance platform for AI agents that act, built by Elvar Systems Ltd, a UK software company based in London. Its first product, Elvar Mantle, shows every agent at work, sets the rules each one works inside, can hold an action until a person approves it, can stop an agent, and keeps a record of every act that someone other than Elvar or the agent’s vendor can verify. Mantle covers coding agents first, including Claude Code, OpenAI Codex, GitHub Copilot and Devin, as well as a firm’s own in-house agents. Elvar Summit is the governed workspace over the apps a firm already uses, built as a layer on Mantle. Elvar is aimed at enterprises and other high-trust firms, and is starting with a small number of pilot companies.

Meet the founders

Aaron Yuan

Co-founder

aaron@elvarsystems.co.uk

After studying economics at Cambridge, Aaron built a strategy consulting career spanning fast-paced deals, corporate strategy in high-risk industries and technology rollouts in both Strategy& and their clients.

Throughout, he saw how much time teams lost because AI couldn’t be trusted in the hands of everyday teams. After spending the last months of his time at Strategy& moving from a power user to shaping their AI vendor strategy and working as an AI SME, he now builds the tools that earn that trust.

Ming Yang

Co-founder

ming@elvarsystems.co.uk

Ming studied astrophysics at Cambridge (MAst) before becoming a technical consultant at Quantifi, leading fintech implementation projects for banks and hedge funds, while simultaneously publishing astrophysics research in his free time that would go on to ruffle a few feathers.

Having automated much of his own day job with agents, turning days into hours, Ming saw firsthand the experience of AI usage often being ahead of what was approved at the company level. Founding Elvar, he now seeks to close that gap.

The journey

Aaron and Ming’s route to founding Elvar, and the problem it was built for.

01

AI arrives

Aaron was in strategy consulting and Ming was in engineering when AI arrived at work. Like a lot of people, both found their working lives changed.

02

What it gave them

Aaron ran leaner deals teams and delivered more, with better hours. Ming automated most of his own day job.

03

Where it broke

Leaner teams made the gaps obvious. The company’s AI tools fit Aaron’s own workflows less each month, and he had no room to build or buy his own. Ming watched people rely on tools they had each found or built alone, so knowledge stayed private and nothing was visible.

04

The real problem

Under both problems, and plenty more like them, sat one question of trust: could a company hand its people increasingly powerful AI and trust them with it?

05

What Elvar is for

Elvar was built to solve that trust problem, so companies can put powerful AI in the hands of their people and let them find the best ways of working with agents themselves.

Step 1 of 5: AI arrives.

How we got here

We built Luvo and Brill first, separately from each other, with agents doing most of the work from first line to release. What we learned about oversight and control along the way is what we now build.

  1. 01 · The partnership

Aaron and Ming come together as an independent software partnership, developing consumer apps end to end with agents doing most of the work.

  2. 02 · Luvo and Brill

Luvo rolls out within one to two months of the partnership starting: a mobile group travel planning app. Brill follows as the next step, letting agents manage personal finances.

  3. 03 · Elvar is founded

While the apps take shape, Elvar is founded to codify the agentic development process used to build them.

  4. 04 · Agent-first philosophy

GitHub, Jira, Confluence and Slack were never made to be agent-first. Elvar was prioritised to become a fully agentic company operating system.

  5. 05 · Now

Elvar is building Summit, Mantle and Atlas as the backbones of that company operating system. No single product is a company operating system. The combination is what is destined to become one.

We are working with a small number of pilot companies on real work, and we are always glad to hear from teams putting agents to use. Tell us what you are trying to move.
